Members of the Writers Guild of America are gathering at 3:30 this afternoon in front of the Fine Arts Theatre on Biltmore Avenue to show solidarity with the union and its strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
The Asheville rally is one of many being staged by the WGA in almost every state in the country. Writers are striking for increased compensation for shows, movies and other content streamed or downloaded over the Internet.
The strike has shut down dozens of TV shows and some films have also postponed production.
