Merck and Co. Inc. is reportedly recalling a million doses of a vaccine children get to prevent meningitis and pneumonia that is manufactured in the Philadelphia area.
The Associated Press said Wednesday that Merck (NYSE:MRK) was not aware of anyone being harmed by the Hib vaccine for children under 5.
The Philadelphia Inquirer was reporting that the vaccine is made at a company plant in West Point, Montgomery County. The newspaper quoted a company spokeswoman who said contamination was found in the plant, not the vaccine. The company is based in Whitehouse Station, N.J.
